BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Western Michigan senior Carmeryn Lucia registered her second-straight top 15 finish as she placed tied for 11th as the WMU golf team wrapped up the 2021 Dolores Black Falcon Invitational at Stone Ridge Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.
Lucia finished the final round with a 77 and a 36-hole score of 152 (+8) to finish in a four-way tie for 11th as the team's top finisher. The Grand Blanc, Mich., native had 18 pars and a team-high five birdies on the weekend and led the tournament in par three scoring at -2. Junior
Brooke Gibbons finished just two shots behind her with a 154 (+10) and tied for 17th. Gibbons had the second most pars in the field with 26 in her two rounds. Junior
Imogen Courtney was WMU's third finisher, shooting a 78 in the final round for a two-day total of 158 (+14).
Fiona Khaing shot an 83 to wrap up the weekend with a 163 (+19) and
Alissa Fish finished right behind her with a 164 (+20).
Western Michigan finished in ninth place with a 36-hole total of 627 (+51). Ball State won the tournament after shooting 304 in the final round for a total score of 605 (+16). Akron's Jenn David was the individual medalist after wrapping up the tournament with a 144 (-1).
The Broncos head to Akron for the Akron Invitational on Friday and Sunday at Portage Country Club. It's the final tournament before the Mid-American Conference Championships on April 23-24 at Silver Lake Country Club in Silver Lake, Ohio.
