KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team has a busy weekend ahead with matches home on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Broncos host Cleveland State on Friday at 3 p.m., Drake on Saturday at noon and Youngstown State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Broncos were last in action last Wednesday with a 7-0 win over Wayne State to improve to 8-1 on the season.
ONE DOWN, TWO TO GO
Senior
Jannik Opitz now sits at the top of Western Michigan's all-time total wins list at 217. With one major record down he has two more in his sights. Opitz now has 110 doubles wins in his career and sits one shy of tying
Casey Cullen's (2007-11) program record of 111. He also has 107 career singles wins and sits just eight shy of tying Michael Calderone's program's record of 115.

Zac Faveri earned MAC Doubles Team of the Week honors. The duo won 6-4 at No. 1 in their match against Wayne State. The victory led to Opitz tying the program record for career total wins.
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
CSU is 3-3 on the season and have won its last three matches, all on the road at Bulter, Buffalo and Toledo. Senior Luke Phillips has a team-best singles record of 5-1 and is 5-0 at No. 2. The doubles team of Phillips and Nico Mostradi are 3-0 this season, all at No. 1.
Western Michigan leads the all-time series at 7-1.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Saturday's match against the Broncos will be just the fourth of the season for Drake. The Bulldogs opened the season with a win over Illinois State but then went on to lose against Utah and Northern Illinois. Both of Drake's losses have been with 4-3 score lines. Redshirt sophomore Evan Fragistas has been the team's top performer in singles action, with a 3-0 record, going 1-0 at No. 3 and 2-0 at No. 4. The duo of Benedek Herman and Oliver Johansson are 3-0 in doubles play on the season, all at No. 1.
Drake leads the all-time series at 6-0.
SCOUTING THE PENGUINS
After dropping its first four matches of the season, Youngstown State is on a five-match winning streak. All five of the wins came at home and Sunday will by YSU's first on the road since Feb. 12. Sophomore Laurentiu Mandocescu is 7-2 in singles play, all at No. 2, while Vasilis Vardakis is 6-3 at No. 1. Vardakis and Eric Grant have posted at 2-0 record in doubles at No.2, while David Moreno and Joao Garretto are 3-2 at No. 2.
The Broncos are 8-0 all-time against the Penguins.
ON THE HORIZON
Western Michigan heads on the road to open Mid-American Conference play next Friday at Ball State and then continues on the road to Toledo on Sunday.
