Casey Cullen, a Bronco men’s tennis record holder and alumnus, enters his second season as the team’s assistant coach in 2013-14.

Cullen was a two-time Second Team All-MAC selection at Western Michigan and a key component in helping the Broncos win Mid-American Conference regular season championships in 2008, 2009, and 2011, as well as MAC tournament titles in 2008, 2009, and 2010. He ranks sixth on the overall victories list at Western Michigan with a 192-81 (.703) career record.

Cullen ranks as the program’s career record holder in doubles wins. Cullen recorded 111 doubles victories in his career as a Bronco, surpassing R.J. Dunkle’s record of 109 that had stood since the 1985 season. Cullen also recorded two of the top three single-season doubles wins totals in program history, including the single-season record of 33 wins set in 2010 and 31 in 2008.

Before returning to Western Michigan, Cullen spent a year coaching tennis at country clubs and at the high school level. He served as the head tennis instructor at the Bloomfield Open Hunt Club, as well as an instructor at the Cullen Etterbeek Tennis Academy in the summer of 2012. Cullen also served as the assistant boys’ tennis coach at Brother Rice High School, and helped lead the team to a second-place ranking in the state of Michigan in 2012.

Cullen graduated from Western Michigan in 2011 with a degree in Accountancy.  He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree.
