Men's Tennis Falls in MAC Semifinals

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Western Michigan men's tennis season came to a close on Saturday after a 4-3 loss to Northern Illinois in the Mid-American Conference Semifinals at the University at Buffalo. 

WMU took the early advantage with the doubles point. Junior Ashton Adesoro and sophomore Jack Davison picked up a 6-1 win over Chaio Bo Suo Nan and Iker Dellien at No. 3 to put the pressure on. Sophomores Alex Antonopoulos and Oscar Corwin then secured the point after a 6-4 win at No. 1 over Iker Gaztambide Arrastia and Federico Scotuzzi. 

The Broncos pushed ahead 2-0 after Chen-Hui Ho defeated Scotuzzi, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 4. NIU cut the lead to 2-1 after Gaztambide Arrastia defeated Adesoro at No. 1 6-4, 6-3. Tim Riedel gave WMU a 3-1 lead shortly after with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win over Suo Nan at No. 5. 

Nikola Puntaric cut the lead back to one after a 6-4, 7-5 win over Corwin at No. 2. the Huskies then tied it up  after Lorenzo Leti Messina beat Antonopoulos 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3. WMU had a chance to win while it was still 3-1 with Davison was in a tie-breaker with Pratyaksh LNU after he won the opening set 6-3. But LNU won the tie-breaker 7-5 and then the third set, 6-1, to finish the match.
