COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fifteen members of the Western Michigan Hockey team have been named to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Academic All-Conference Team, with nine earning NCHC Distinguished Scholar Athlete honors.
To be eligible for the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must compile a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average or better, while having completed at least one full academic year at his current institution. Student-athletes that have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better are honored as NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes, in addition to Academic All-Conference.

Austin Cain (3.59 marketing),

Jared Kucharek (3.92, sales and business marketing),
Josh Passolt (3.39, finance),
Jason Polin (3.86, sport management),
Jamie Rome (3.26, finance),
Lukas Samuelsson (3.11, sport management),
Brett Van Os (4.00, accountancy),
Paul Washe (3.48, accountancy) and
Drew Worrad (3.87, accountancy) all earned the honors for the Broncos, with WMU tying for the second-most in the league.
Attard, Bennett, Brickey, Bussi, Cain, Kucharek, Polin, Van Os and Worrad all earned NCHC Distinguished Scholar honors.
All 15 of the Broncos are repeat honors from last season, with Bennett, Cain, Passolt, Van Os and Washe being four-time selections in their careers.
Western Michigan's freshman class will have a chance to earn the honors later in the spring when the award is opened up to freshmen.
