KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Despite a pair of losses over the weekend, the Western Michigan hockey team was able to stay among the top teams in the nation.
The Broncos were ranked No. 8 in the USA Hockey poll and No. 9 in the USCHO rankings. Michigan State, Michigan, Minnesota Duluth, Denver and Penn State were the top five in both sets of rankings.
NCHC wise, Western Michigan was joined by DU, UMD, North Dakota and Colorado College. Miami, St. Cloud State, Omaha and Arizona State were all receiving votes, helping the conference have all nine teams featured in the polls.
The Brown and Gold will remain at home this week to square off with rival Miami (OH). WMU won all four meetings last season. The two teams will open the series on Friday at Lawson Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 PM. For tickets, visit
