KALAMAZOO, Mich. – With an NCHC opening split against St. Cloud State this past weekend, Western Michigan remained among the top teams in the nation in the latest national polls.
The Broncos were ranked No. 4 in both the USCHO and USA Hockey polls this week. WMU is the highest rated NCHC team in the national rankings. Michigan State, Michigan, Penn State, WMU and Quinnipiac made up the top five in both polls.
NCHC wise, the Brown and Gold were joined by Minnesota Duluth, North Dakota, Denver, Colorado College and Miami. Omaha, St. Cloud State and Arizona State were receiving votes, helping the conference have all nine teams featured in the polls.
Western Michigan returns home this week for a pair of games against No. 9 Denver. WMU won three of the four meetings last season, including a 3-2 double overtime victory in the NCAA Frozen Four. The series kicks off on Friday at 7 PM at Lawson Arena. For tickets, visit WMUBroncos.com/Tickets.
