Men’s Basketball Hosts Eastern Michigan in Regular Season Finale

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – In the regular season finale the Western Michigan men's basketball team hosts in-state foe Eastern Michigan on Friday, March 5 inside University Arena.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan enters its regular season finale with an overall record of 5-15 and 4-11 in Mid-American Conference play. The Broncos are coming off 73-63 road victory at Northern Illinois on Tuesday, marking the first time since 2016-17 WMU has won three MAC road games.

Home is Where the "W's" Are
Since 2013, Western Michigan is 6-2 against Eastern Michigan in Kalamazoo. In those eight meetings at home, WMU is averaging 74.3 points per game with the winning margin being 11.8 points.

It's Senior Night
Prior to the game the Western Michigan men's basketball program will honor senior guard Rafael Cruz Jr., who will be playing his final game in the Brown & Gold. Cruz Jr. transferred to WMU from Triton College in 2019 and has amassed 305 points while at WMU. This season, Cruz Jr. is averaging 6.1 points per game and shooting 36.6 percent from the field.

Everybody Wants a Good Finale
The Broncos have lost three straight regular season finales and seeks its first regular season finale victory since the 2016-17 campaign.

Starters Lead the Way
At Northern Illinois on Tuesday, all five starters for the Broncos scored in double figures. It was the first time WMU had five players score in double figures since Nov. 19, 2019.

Triple Digit Club
The Broncos now have four players that have scored at least 100 points this season. WMU is led by sophomore B. Artis White (272) followed by senior Greg Lee (258), sophomore Titus Wright (145) and redshirt junior Jason Whitens (100).

Defense Travels
Western Michigan is one of just three teams in the MAC to rank in the top six in the conference in scoring defense, opponent field goal percentage, opponent three-point field goal percentage and opponent free-throw percentage.

Inside the Numbers
The Broncos have been outscored 630-770 in the second half this season … over the past four seasons WMU is 58-35 when scoring over 70 points … WMU is 45-15 the past four years when leading at halftime … B. Artis White has hit at least one three-pointer in 19 consecutive games.
