KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team is set to host Binghamton on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Buffalo at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Both matches will be played outdoors at Sorensen Courts.
Spectators must be on a pass list to enter, there will be no general admission. Gates will open 30 minutes prior to the start.
WMU heads into the weekend with a 2-0 record in Mid-American Conference play, 13-1 overall, after winning at Ball State and at Toledo on the road last weekend. After dropping the doubles point, the Broncos rebounded to win five of the six singles matches to beat the Cardinals 5-2 on Friday. On Sunday, WMU rolled past the Rockets 6-1.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Binghamton is 0-1 on the season with its only match being played against Buffalo last weekend. The Bulls defeated the Bearcats 5-2, with Shourya Verma winning at No. 3 and BU winning the doubles point.

Buffalo is 3-2 on the season and split during the opening week of MAC play with a win at Binghamton and a loss at Northern Illinois. Simon Wibler and Finn Macnamara each have a team-high four wins and are 4-0 in singles on the season. Mcnamara and Tom Owen are 3-0 as a doubles pair with all three wins coming at No. 3.
THREE TO GO
Senior
Jannik Opitz already holds the program's all-time records for overall wins and doubles wins. The Hildesheim, Germany, native has one more in sight and that's the career singles record. Opitz started the season with 100 and is 12-1 on the season so far. He is just three shy of tying Michael Calderone's mark of 115.
ON THE HORIZON
The Broncos have a week off before resuming play on April 2 at Northern Illinois. WMU then takes a brief break from MAC play to host Butler on Saturday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m.
