KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team extended its winning streak to five matches after downing Ball State at West Hills Athletic Club on Thursday afternoon.
The Broncos (13-9, 6-2 MAC) started off the match taking the doubles point.
Tim Riedel and
Drew Evans pressed the advantage with a 6-3 win at No. 2 over Drew and Nolan Hayward. The point was secured by
Jack Davison and
Ashton Adesoro at No. 3 after a 7-5 win over Andre Caragea and Jeremy Milette.
The Cardinals struck first and second in singles to take a 2-1 lead after wins by Caragea at No. 2 and Broc Fletcher at No. 6. WMU tied it back up at 2-2 with a win by Riedel at No. 4, 6-4, 6-2, over Milette. The Broncos retook the lead after Adesoro picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 over Jacks Lancaster. The match-winning point came from freshman
Chen-Hui Ho, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 over Zack Kimelman.
Oscar Corwin added the final pint for Western Michigan with a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5) win at No. 3 over Drew Hayward.
Western Michigan heads on the road next week to close out the regular season, heading to Northern Illinois on Thursday and UIC on Saturday.
