Eagle Invitational Up Next For Gymnastics

Broncos to compete against Eastern Michigan, Ball State & Kent State

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan gymnastics team hits the road for the first time this season as the Broncos visit Eastern Michigan for the Eagle Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 6. WMU & EMU will be joined by Ball State and Kent State for the 4 p.m. ET meet.

Note: Eastern Michigan was forced to cancel the planned ESPN3 broadcast of the meet due to staffing issues beyond EMU's control.

The Broncos (1-1) are coming off their first win over rival Central Michigan since 2007. Eastern Michigan (3-1) plays host coming off its first defeat of the season to Kent State. The Golden Flashes are 3-0 with wins over Bowling Green and Pittsburgh in addition to the victory over EMU. Ball State is 2-0 with victories over CMU and Illinois State.

| Scouting the Broncos

In the victory over the Chippewas a week ago, Broncos secured the top spot in a pair of events as Payton Murphy won the balance beam with a 9.900 mark, while Ronni Binstock tied for the top mark in floor exercise at 9.875. Stacie Harrison paced the Broncos on the vault at 9.800 (third), while Alexis Olivier and Harrison finished in a tie for second on the uneven bars at 9.825.

Eastern Michigan hosts the Eagle Invitational coming off a narrow 194.800-194.050 setback to Kent State a week ago. EMU captured one event in the meet, as Caitlin Satler won the beam with a score of 9.900

| Scouting the Cardinals

Ball State travels to the Eagle Invitational coming off a 194.425-187.975 victory over Illinois State. The Cardinals had the top-two finishers in each individual event. Like WMU, the Cardinals also own a victory over Central Michigan on the season. Arden Hudson has been the top Cardinal on three apparatus this season.

| Scouting Golden Flashes

Kent State is in a stretch of three straight weekends competing against Eastern Michigan, as the Golden Flashes defeated EMU in a dual last week, 194.875-194.050, and will return to Ypsilanti for a dual meet on Feb. 14. Abby Fletcher was the standout in the victory over EMU, winning on the balance beam with a score of 9.900, vault with a mark of 9.850 and floor exercise at 9.875.
