WMU Preps for Wednesday Match-Up with Kent State

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's basketball team continues Mid-American Conference action this week with a home game on Wednesday, Feb. 17 against Kent State.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan heads into Wednesday's home contest with an overall record of 3-13 and 2-12 in conference play. The Broncos are coming off a 74-52 loss at Ohio on Saturday. WMU won its previous home game last Wednesday with a 74-66 victory over Akron.

Series History
WMU seeks its first home win over Kent State since earning a 73-52 victory back on Jan. 13, 2016. The Broncos have dropped four of their last five meetings against the Golden Flashes with WMU's last win over Kent State coming on Jan. 6, 2018.

Williams Historic Week
Redshirt freshman Taylor Williams had a stellar week for the Brown & Gold,  averaging 20 points and 16.5 rebounds in two contests. Against Akron Williams tied a school record with a career-high 21 rebounds, tied for the most in school history and fourth in conference history.

Williams also had a career-high 30 points against Akron on 14-of-23 shooting from the field. Williams is the first player in school history and the third player in the NCAA this season to have a 30-point / 20-rebound game.

The Bronco Trio
The trio of Reilly Jacobson, Taylor Williams and Sydney Shafer have each scored over 200 points this season and have combined to score 656 of WMU's 1006 points this season. The trio has accounted for 65.2 percent of WMU's total offense.

Williams One of the Best in the MAC
Redshirt freshman Taylor Williams is one of just four players in the MAC to be averaging a double-double with 12.6 points and 10.0 rebounds this season.

What's Up Next
Following Wednesday's contest the Broncos next scheduled game is set for Wednesday, Feb. 24 against in-state foe Eastern Michigan. WMU's next home game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27 against Northern Illinois.
