KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan women's basketball program wrapped up the 2019-20 season with an 18-13 overall record and 10-8 mark in Mid-American Conference play. The Broncos produced eight more wins from the 2018-19 season and earned the No. 5 seed to the 2020 MAC Championship.
WMU's four seniors,
Chelayne Bailey,
Jillian Fletcher,
Breanna Mobley and
Kamrin Reed, helped oversee the productive campaign. This past season, Mobley became the program's career leader in rebounds and was named second team All-MAC while Reed graduated in December with her degree in sports management. Bailey poured in a season-high 18 points at Ball State on February 1 and started 29 games after joining the program following her graduation from Syracuse. Fletcher delivered her first steal of the season at EMU on March 4 and played in 44 games since arriving in Kalamazoo after her transfer from West Virginia State.
Overall, the Broncos collected 10 wins at home for the first time since the 2014-15 season, and just the fourth time since 2003. Western Michigan defeated No. 12 seed Bowling Green 84-67 in the first round of the MAC Championship to advance to Cleveland for the quarterfinals at Rocket Mortgage Field House. Redshirt sophomore
Jordan Walker joined Mobley with all-league accolades, earning a place on the third team.
