Broncos Set for Bowling Green Rematch

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's basketball looks to continue their winning ways with a game against Bowling Green inside University Arena on, Wednesday, February 19.

LAST TIME OUT
The Broncos collected their second straight win with a 68-65 victory over Northern Illinois on Feb. 15. Breanna Mobley had 18 points and 11 rebounds, good for her 15th double-double of the season. Two more Bronco starters reached double digits, Leighah-Amori Wool and Chelayne Bailey each with 11 points. It was a total team effort for the Brown and Gold as nine of the ten players that found the court scored. Ashley Konkle led the second string with eight points and four rebounds, sinking the first three-pointer of her career. Reilly Jacobson converted three field goals with two rebounds.
 
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
The Broncos finished the nonconference portion of their season with an 8-4 mark, including four wins on the road. Western Michigan heads into Saturday's contest with an even 6-6 record in conference play, coming off of two straight wins including a road victory against Northern Illinois.The squad is led by Jordan Walker and Breanna Mobley. Walker has led the team in scoring this season with 15.2 points per game, while Mobley averages a double-double with 13.7 points and 11.0 rebounds, making an appearance at 11th in the MAC in scoring.  

SERIES HISTORY
Bowling Green has the advantage in the all-time record 36-34. Before a loss in January to the Falcons, WMU had won in the last ten matchups with Bowlilng Green. The Broncos hold the advantage inside University Arena with a 16-14 record. Last time out against the Falcons, WMU lost on the road. The Brown & Gold shot 23-of-62 (37.1 percent) from the field and 7-of-25 from three-point range. The WMU offense was led by double-digit scoring from four of five starters. Breanna Mobley led the squad with 17 points and was two rebounds shy of a double-double. Leighah-Amori Wool and Jordan Walker each added 12 points, Wool with seven rebounds and Walker with four. Grad transfer Chelayne Bailey added 11 points and eight rebounds with a team-high seven assists and four steals.
 
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
The Falcons have dropped their last five MAC contests in the conference season, their sole win coming against the Broncos in January. At the helm of Bowling Green basketball in her second season is Robyn Fralick, who led the Falcons last season to a 9-21 finish and a 2-16 mark in the conference.
 
RECORD-BREAKING BRONCO                                                                       
Breanna Mobley is dominating the rebounding category this season, breaking multiple records in her senior season. Mobley surpassed 1,000 rebounds against Ball State to become the second-ever Bronco to have scored 1,000 points and rebounds in her career. She became a member of the 1,000-point club against Miami on Jan. 20, 2018. The record puts her alongside former WMU legend and coach Pat Charity, who hit the milestone in the 1977-78 season. On Feb. 3 against Miami (Ohio), Mobley moved up to 1,028 rebounds to tie the all-time rebounding record, also earned by Charity, and broke the record on Feb. 8 against Eastern Michigan to move to 1,038 rebounds in her career. Mobley now holds the rebounding record for all of Bronco basketball.
 
ASSIST GAME STRONG
Western Michigan ranks fifth in the Mid-American conference in assists, with seven players contributing assists in the double-digits, four of whom are starters for the squad. On Saturday against Northern Illinois, several Broncos broke into new helper milestones. Chelayne Bailey surpassed 80 assists to continue leading the team with the eighth-highest number in the MAC. Leighah-Amori Wool ranks 14th in the conference and passed 70 assists on the season, while Jordan Walker hit the 60-assists mark and Breanna Mobley got to 30 total.
 
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
The Broncos are 7-3 on the season when playing at University Arena. Some of their best averages of the year so far have come during home contests. Over ten games hosted, they averaged 70.8 points and 39.4 rebounds, with 40.4 percent field goal shooting and 29.1 percent from beyond the arc.
