Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan returns 25 letterwinners from last year's squad that posted an 18-31 overall record and a 11-13 Mid-American Conference record. Last season WMU boasted the fourth best offense in the MAC with a .287 batting average to go along with a .422 slugging percentage and 32 home runs.

Consider It Dunn
Leading the way offensively will be 2019 First Team All-MAC selection Blake Dunn. Dunn led the Broncos last season in batting average (.374), runs (43), hits (71), triples (2), slugging percentage (.521), on-base percentage (.467) and stolen bases (30).

Miller Time
Returning on the mound for the Broncos will be 2019 Second Team All-MAC selection Brady Miller. The right-handed pitcher posted a 5-2 record last season with a 3.10 ERA. Miller's 3.10 ERA was the lowest by a Bronco pitcher since All-American Keegan Akin back in 2016.

WMU picked 7th in MAC Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll
On Wednesday the MAC announced its 2020 Baseball Preseason Coaches' poll with WMU being selected seventh with 57 votes.

Starting Off Right
Western Michigan looks to capture its first opening series victory since 2008 when WMU took two of three from Southern Illinois. The Broncos also seek their first Opening Day victory since 2011.

As Tough as It Gets
WMU will have 11 games during the 2020 campaign against Power Five schools, the most under head coach Billy Gernon.

WMU vs. USC Part II
It will be the second meeting all-time between WMU and USC with the Broncos winning its first meeting back in 1989.

Double Digit Broncos
Last season the Broncos recorded nine games with 10 or more runs and registered an 8-1 record in those games. WMU also had double digit hits in 25 of its 49 games a year ago.

Scouting the Competition
USC is coming off a 25-29-1 record last season and was picked to finish seventh in the preseason PAC-12 Coaches' Poll. The Trojans are under the guidance of first year head coach Jason Gill and seek its first postseason appearance since 2015.
On the field USC is led by Jamal O'Guinn who is the team's leading returning in home runs (5) and runs scored (22). The Trojans are led on the mound by Isaac Esqueda who registered a 3-5 record with a 3.94 ERA a year ago.
