KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and Director of Athletics Kathy Beauregard have announced the hiring of Kim Moore to the position of head women's golf coach.
Moore becomes the fourth head coach in the program's history after spending seven years at Saint Mary's College (Notre Dame, Ind.). At SMC she coached the Belles to two NCAA Division III Team Championship appearances in 2017 and 2018. Saint Mary's won three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association conference championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019. During the 2018 season they broke the school and league scoring record.
"Western Michigan is extremely excited to announce the hire of Kim Moore as our new member of our Bronco coaching family," said Beauregard. "Kim has a tremendous amount of experience that includes playing professionally and collegiate coaching success. Our Bronco golf team members will benefit from her ability to provide experienced mentorship and continue to recruit championship talent."
"I'm so excited and grateful for this opportunity to be the next head women's golf coach at Western Michigan University," Moore said. "This team has an established history of success on the course and in the classroom and I am excited to continue pushing this program further and achieving its championship goals. I want to thank Kathy Beauregard, Jeff Stone and Keanah Smith for trusting in me and believing that I will lead this program to the high expectations established within in the WMU Athletic Department. I have a competitive passion for the game of golf and being able to be an impact for young women in this program is such a reward for me."
Moore produced one All-American, two All-Region selections and 14 total First Team All-MIAA selections in her coaching career at SMC. Three of her student-athletes also went on to win the league MVP award. The Belles also had tremendous academic success under Moore with 14 total Academic All-Americans.
"I will be forever grateful to Julie Schroeder-Biek and the rest of the Saint Mary's Athletic Department for giving me my start as a collegiate golf coach," Moore added. "Once a Belle, always a Belle."
She earned a degree in biology in 2003 from the University of Indianapolis, where she was a member of the varsity golf program.
