KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan women's basketball and head coach
Shane Clipfell announced its 2020-21 non-conference schedule on Thursday.
The Broncos will take part in four non-conference games, two of which come inside University Arena. No general public will be permitted inside University Arena for the remainder of 2020. During non-conference play, additional games may be announced at a later date.
Western Michigan will begin the 2020-21 campaign at home with a match-up against the University of Illinois at Chicago on Saturday, Dec. 5. Last season the Broncos defeated the Flames on the road, 80-52. Sophomore guard
Sydney Shafer nearly recorded a triple-double with 10 points, eight assists and four rebounds.
Following its season opener WMU will have back-to-back road contests at Detroit Mercy (Dec. 9) and Valparaiso (Dec. 12). The Broncos defeated Detroit Mercy at home, 82-67 and have won seven straight against the Titans. Western Michigan squares off with Valparaiso for the first time since 2014 on Dec. 12. The Broncos own the all-time series 8-3 and have won two straight in the series.
The Broncos wrap up non-conference play with a showdown against Loyola-Chicago on Friday, Dec. 18. The Ramblers are coming off their first winning campaign since 2012 and return 10 letterwinners from last season.
