KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan Athletics caught up with former Western Michigan volleyball player Sydney LeMay for a Q&A in this edition of
Behind the W.
LeMay re-wrote the record books in her four years in Kalamazoo ranking in the top ten in career kills, attack percentage, solo blocks, block assists, total blocks, points, sets played and matches played.
Her 1,441 career kills rank fourth all-time in program history and is one of just four players in Mid-American Conference history to earn First Team All-MAC honors four years in a row.
During her freshman campaign in 2014, LeMay helped the Broncos capture the MAC Tournament Title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament. LeMay was named MAC Freshman of the Year and earned MAC All-Tournament team honors.
In the classroom LeMay was a three-time Academic All-MAC and MAC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete. She also earned WMU's Lois Ellis Scholar-Athlete of the Year award in 2016-17.
After her playing days as a Bronco, LeMay played beach volleyball as a graduate student at Missouri State. Last season, LeMay set MSU's single season record for victories (15-7) and winning percentage (.682) in her only year on campus. LeMay took home team MVP honors in 2019 and earned six victories against Division I competition.
