KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's basketball team and eighth-year head coach Shane Clipfell unveiled both its non-conference and Mid-American Conference home/away game schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season on Tuesday, September 3.

"We have put together a schedule that will challenge us well for the rigors of the MAC schedule," said Clipfell. "Opening up at Michigan will be a huge challenge for our relatively young team with nine new faces available to us this year. We have a nice blend of teams from various conferences including the Big 10, Horizon, WAC, America East, Conference USA, Summit, and Missouri Valley. We are playing three teams that played in the postseason last year. We will be well-traveled and very experienced come January, which is exactly what we want to have happen."

The Broncos finished 10-20 overall in 2018-19 with a 4-13 Mid-American Conference record, earning their way an appearance in the MAC tournament at the end of the regular season. WMU lost a narrow battle to Northern Illinois 69-70 in the first round to conclude the highly competitive season.

The Brown & Gold open their season at the University of Michigan on November taking on the Wolverines, who earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament last season, losing in the second round 50-71 to Louisville. From there, the Broncos host a trio of games at University Arena, facing Kentucky State on Nov. 14, Detroit Mercy on Nov. 20, and Florida Atlantic University on Nov. 24.

Additionally, the Broncos will compete in two tournaments this season. The team travels to El Paso, Texas for the annual UTEP Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 27 to take on the University of Texas-El Paso and New Mexico State. WMU faces Denver on Dec. 21 and Stony Brook on Dec. 22 when they head down to San Juan for the Puerto Rico Clasico held just before Christmas. The team rounds out the 2019 portion of the season on Dec. 30 against Loyola University in Chicago.
