KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan women's basketball head coach
Shane Clipfell announced the addition of graduate student transfer guard Chelayne Bailey to the roster for the upcoming 2019-20 season on Tuesday.
Bailey joins Aninya Walker, Ashley Konkle, Sydney Shafer and Taylor Williams as part of the 2019-20 recruiting class. All five will be eligible to compete for the Brown & Gold starting in the 2019-20 season.

Bailey joins the Broncos after playing the past three seasons at Syracuse University. For the Orange, the 5-6 guard played in 55 games totaling 40 assists, 25 rebounds and 12 steals. Last season Bailey appeared in nine games and recorded a season-high three points and three rebounds vs. Niagara.
In 2017-18 Bailey ranked fourth on the team with 21 assists and tallied at least one assist in 15 games. During her freshman campaign Bailey ranked second among Syracuse freshman, playing in 28 games and notched a season-high three points, one rebounds and one assist at the Florida Sunshine Classic against Old Dominion.
During her prep career, Bailey was ranked the 109th guard in her class by
espnW HoopGurlz and led Pickering to a 2016 regional championship title. Bailey also played for the Canadian U17 national team at the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championships in the Czech Republic. For the Canadian U17 national team, Bailey played in seven games averaging 1.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest.
