MAC Tournament Berth On the Line as Baseball Hosts Ohio

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan baseball team will host Ohio this weekend inside Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field with a berth in the Mid-American Conference Tournament on the line.

MAC Tournament Berth
Both the Broncos and Bobcats are vying for the final spot in the upcoming MAC Tournament, May 22-26. WMU heads into the weekend with a ½ game lead over Ohio with the winner of the three-game series clinching the final spot.

Senior Day Saturday
In the series finale on Saturday, the Western Michigan baseball program will honor its nine seniors, Cooper Marshall, Jimmy Roche, Conner Henderson, Nate Grys, Chris Modrzynski, Matt McConnell, Jesse Forestell, Casey Horjus and Andrew Stone prior to the game.

Scouting the Broncos
WMU heads into the weekend with an overall record of 17-29 and 10-12 in conference play. The Broncos are averaging 6.0 runs and 9.9 hits per contest and are 5-1 at home this season.

Stolen Base Record
With 29 stolen bases, sophomore Blake Dunn is just three away from breaking the WMU single-season record set by Joel DeVisser (31) back in 1998. Dunn's 29 stolen bases leads the MAC and ranks 18th in the NCAA.

Broncos vs. Bobcats
The Broncos have played well against Ohio in recent history, having won eight of the last 12 meetings. WMU has not lost a series to Ohio since 2010 and hasn't dropped a home series to the Bobcats since 2009.

Do It All Dunn
Blake Dunn has done it all at the plate for the Broncos this season, leading the team in:

• Hits (69)
• Home Runs (5)

• On-Base Percentage (.472)

Miller Time
Freshman RHP Brady Miller has been stellar on the mound this season for the Broncos, posting a 4-2 record with a team-low 3.46 ERA. In just 14 appearances (nine starts), Miller ranks second on the team with 44 strikeouts.

Scouting Ohio
The Bobcats enter the weekend with an overall record of 16-31, 10-13 in MAC play. Last weekend Ohio was swept at Ball State after being outscored 15-7 in the three-game series. In midweek action, Ohio fell to Marshall at home, 10-7.

Ohio is led by Rudy Rott who at the plate leads the team in batting average, runs, hits, doubles, home runs and RBIs.
