WMU Travels to In-State Rival Central Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan baseball returns to the diamond this weekend for a Mid-American Conference road series at in-state rival Central Michigan, April 26-28.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan heads into the weekend fresh off back-to-back MAC series wins and has an overall record of 13-23 and 6-7 in conference play. Last weekend WMU won two of three at Bowling Green, scoring 11 runs on 29 hits.

Sophomore Blake Dunn has done it all at the plate for the Broncos this season, leading the team in multiple statistical categories:

Junior Drew Devine has recorded at least one hit in 14 of the last 15 games and leads the Broncos with 25 RBIs.

Mullen Them Over
Redshirt junior RHP Will Mullen has been dominant on the mound as of late, allowing just one earned run in his last nine appearances. During MAC play, Mullen has posted a 2.18 ERA with a 1-0 record in 20.2 innings of work.

One of the Nation's Top Offenses
Through 36 games, WMU is averaging 6.36 runs per game and ranks 38th in the NCAA with a .293 team batting average. The Broncos have tallied double digit runs in eight games this season and have posted double digit hits in 21 of the 36 games played.

The Broncos in Mount Pleasant
Western Michigan seeks its first series victory at Central Michigan since 2008. During the 2008 season, the Broncos outscored the Chippewas 23-16 for the series sweep.

Dunn's Streak Near the Top
Last weekend at BGSU, Blake Dunn's streak of 33 straight games reaching base safely came to an end. The 33 game stretch is the second longest streak in the NCAA this season.

Scouting the Competition
Central Michigan heads into the weekend with an overall record of 28-12 and 10-5 in MAC play. Last weekend CMU took two of three from Toledo on the road, outscoring the rockets 28-8. On Tuesday, the Chippewas fell at home to Division II Davenport, 29-16.

In the MAC the Chippewas rank second in batting average (.301) and earned run average (.4.68) while leading the league in fielding percentage (.971). CMU is led by Zavier Warren who leads the team in batting average (.393), runs scored (52) and RBIs (52).
