KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The No. 1 seeded Western Michigan men's tennis team advanced to the Mid-American Conference Championship for the fourth consecutive season with a 5-0 victory over No. 5 seed Ball State University during a MAC semifinal match Saturday, April 20 at Sorensen Courts.Â
WMU seeks a back-to-back MAC Tournament title tomorrow afternoon versus the winner of No. 2 seed Buffalo and No. 3 seed Northern Illinois.Â
The Brown & Gold earned the doubles point after exciting matches led to the clinching point at court three. Seniors
Lenhard Haupt and
Nick Schnobel prevailed 7-5 over the Cardinals' Conner Anderson and Chris Adams as WMU went up 1-0.Â
In singles play,
Kennosuke Nouchi and Haupt won at courts two and three to give the Broncos a 3-0 advantage. Freshmen
Jack Randall and
Peter Kuszynski then both won with identical scores in two sets nearly simultaneously to secure the 5-0 win.Â
