ALUMNI DAY
Western Michigan is honoring its 2002-03 Mid-American Conference championship team Saturday as part of the second annual Pregame Stampede Tailgate. The 2003 Broncos defeated Ball State 81-76 to claim the program's second ever MAC Tournament title and went on to fall in the first round of the NCAA Tournament versus Stanford. WMU went 20-12 overall under head coach Ron Stewart and finished fifth in the MAC West division with a 10-6 conference mark en route to going on a run in the tournament. Kristin Koetsier and Casey Rost were both named First Team All-MAC, while Rost was the MAC Tournament MVP and Maria Jillian was the MAC Defensive Player of the Year. Koetsier was also a Kodak Honorable Mention All-American.

LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan dropped a Mid-American Conference road matchup at the University of Toledo on Wednesday, Feb. 27, falling 73-63. The Broncos hung in with the Rockets until the final minutes of the game when a three-pointer dagger gave the home team an 11-point advantage with just under two minutes remaining. After shooting a season-high 45.8 percent from beyond the arc most recently during the victory over Eastern Michigan last Saturday, WMU struggled from beyond the arc versus Toledo, shooting 4-of-21 from three-point range. The Rockets shot efficiently from the field, converting 29-of-55 field goal attempts (52.7%). The Brown & Gold shot 40.7 percent from the field, going 24-of-59 from the field. Deja Wimby led the Broncos with a season-high 24 points, tying her career-high with 10 field goals made. Kamrin Reed added 14 points while Leighah-Amori Wool tallied 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Meredith Miller tied a career-high with five assists.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's contest will mark the 83rd all-time matchup between Western Michigan and Ball State, with the Cardinals owning a 44-38 series advantage. The two teams met earlier this season on Jan. 26 in Muncie, Ind., in which the Broncos put together a 14-point comeback victory to win 65-62. Meredith Miller hit seven three-pointers for a career-high 21 points, along with Deja Wimby recording a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
Western Michigan snapped a seven-game losing streak with a victory over Eastern Michigan last Saturday, followed by a competitive road loss at Toledo. WMU has totaled double digit free throws made in the past two games, including an efficient 11-for-13 mark at the line versus the Rockets. The Broncos are paced by a balanced scoring effort, led by Deja Wimby. In the past four games, the senior point guard has averaged 18.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per contest. Leighah-Amori Wool has scored in double figures in six of the last seven games, including a career-high 21 points at Ohio (Feb. 16).

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Ball State sits below Western Michigan in the MAC West Division standings with a 2-13 record in the conference. The Cardinals are coming off their ninth consecutive loss, falling 81-64 against Central Michigan in Muncie, Ind. Senior guard Jasmin Samz scored a career-high 26 points in the loss to the Chippewas. Sophomore forward Oshlynn Brown leads the Cardinals with an average of 13.2 points per game while ranking second in the MAC with 9.1 rebounds per game.

EVERY POSSESSION COUNTS
Seven of WMU's 14 conference games have been decided by four points or less, which is the most in program history since Mid-American Conference competition began during the 1981-82 season. The last time the Broncos had five MAC games decided by four points or less came during the 2008-09 season, as well as the 2004-05 season. The last time a Western Michigan squad had more than five conference games decided by four points or less was in 1995-96, when six games were decided by a four-point margin.

WIMBY CLIMBS RECORD BOOK
Senior point guard Deja Wimby continues to move up in the Bronco women's basketball record book. At Ohio (Feb. 16), Wimby tallied eight points to become the 27th Bronco all-time to reach the 1,000 career point mark. She also became the seventh Bronco in program history to have surpassed 1,000 points, 400 assists, and 200 steals in a career. Wimby ranks sixth all-time at WMU with 463 assists and fifth in steals with 223.

WALKER JOINS 1K CLUB
Jasmyn Walker scored 13 points versus Toledo (Jan. 13) to surpass 1,000 points in her career. After totaling 679 points in two seasons at Valparaiso University, Walker has now accumulated 416 points in 46 games played in Brown & Gold.

WALKER SELECTED TO WBCA COACHES PROGRAM
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced the class for the 17th annual "So You Want To Be A Coach" program on Jan. 22, with redshirt senior Jasmyn Walker included. Each member will participate in the three-day workshop with speakers provided by WeCOACH on April 3-5 in conjunction with the WBCA Convention in Tampa Bay, Fla. Walker, a business administration major, is one of 60 student-athletes throughout NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, invited to participate in the program. She will follow in the footsteps of former Broncos Breanna Bankston and Carrie Moore, who both went on to become Division I coaches.

CLIPFELL THIRD IN ALL-TIME IN WINS AT WMU
Head Coach Shane Clipfell, who eclipsed the 100-win mark versus Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 28), moved into third place in all-time coaching wins at Western Michigan during the victory over Bowling Green (Jan. 5). His 105th career win in his seventh season at the helm passed Jim Hess' (1982-90) career win total.
