Broncos Back in Action Saturday at Eastern Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball team returns to the court for the first time in a week, after playing three games in five days, heading to Ypsilanti to square off with in-state rival Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 23.

Scouting the Broncos
With five games remaining in the regular season Western Michigan sits with an overall record of 8-18, 2-11 in Mid-American Conference play. Last week the Broncos won two of their three games, defeating Northern Illinois and Miami.

Last Time Out
Last Saturday, sophomore Kawanise Wilkins matched a career-high with 26 points as WMU defeated Miami in overtime, 84-79. Wilkins scored 17 of his 26 points in the second half including five points in overtime.

More Fouls. More Points. More Squeaky
After picking up four early fouls, Kawanise "Squeaky" Wilkins had a career night against Miami last Saturday. Wilkins matched his career-high with 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field. Wilkins connected on his only three-pointer of the night with 30 seconds left to send the game into overtime.

Boyer-Richard Lights Up the Scoreboard
Freshman William Boyer-Richard made his mark against Miami last Saturday, registering a career-high 16 points. The Drummondville, Quebec native matched his career high with four three-pointers and leads the MAC in three-point field goal percentage.

Dugan Getting It Done On and Off the Court
Senior Seth Dugan on Thursday was named to the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team for the second year in a row after posting a 3.97 grade point average in Finance. Dugan is the only MAC play to receive the academic recognition.

Hawk > Eagles
Under head coach Steve Hawkins, Western Michigan has an overall record of 23-11.

Scouting the Opponent
Eastern Michigan has won three of its last four games and heads into Saturday's contest with an overall record of 12-14, 6-7 in MAC play. On Tuesday the Eagles used a 22-0 run in the second half to defeat MAC West leader Toledo, 76-69.
The Eagles have three players averaging in double figures led by redshirt senior Elijah Minnie at 14.3 points per game. Senior James Thompson IV is averaging a double-double with 10.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest.
