KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's basketball team has announced the signing of two future Broncos to National Letters of Intent (NLI) on Wednesday, Nov. 14. Megan Wagner and Hannah Spitzley will be eligible to compete for the Brown & Gold starting in the 2020-21 season.

"We couldn't be happier with our two signees thus far," said Head Coach Shane Clipfell. Megan and Hannah share some incredibly important intangibles; they are both exceptional students, they are both highly competitive, they both competed in very well-coached high school and AAU programs, and they are both winners. We are also inheriting terrific families from both and we look forward to having them here."

Megan Wagner | 5-7 | G | Mason High School | Mason, OH
Wagner comes to WMU from Mason High School in Mason, Ohio. She twice earned Defensive Player of the Year honors and was Mason's Principle Award recipient for three consecutive seasons. Last season, Wagner was named a First Team All-GMC and All-State honorable mention, and came four assists short of setting a new school record. Megan is a two-time conference champion, two-time district champion and a regional champion, all in her first two seasons of play.

Clipfell:
"Megan is an old school point guard that is tough as nails. She has a great basketball IQ that she combines with an incredibly good work ethic. We believe she has great leadership ability and we anticipate seeing that from a very early arrival on campus. She is a playmaker and has a very good scoring ability when she is called on."

Hannah Spitzley | 5-10 | G | Pewamo-Westphalia | Pewamo, Mich.
Spitzley led Pewamo-Westphalia to their first state championship last season, capping off a year where they went 27-1 overall. For her performance in 2018-19, Spitzley was recognized as Detroit Free Press First Team All-State, LSU Dream Team All-State, and AP Division 3 Player of the Year, to name a few of many accolades. She is a three-time LSJ Athlete of the Week and earned Player of the Year honors from the Ionia Sentinel and Lansing State Journal in 2018-19.

Clipfell:
"Hannah is the kind of player we really aim for with our wings. She is long and strong, has a very high motor, can defend multiple positions and is as blue-collar as they come. She is a proven shooter and scorer who we think has her best days ahead of her. She knows what it takes to win at a high level with her state championship to prove it."
