CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Western Michigan women's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the Mid-American Conference West Division according to the preseason poll voted on by the 12 conference coaches, while redshirt senior Breanna Mobley was named to the Preseason All-MAC West Division Team.

Central Michigan was predicted to lead the MAC West Division for the fourth consecutive season, receiving four first place votes. Northern Illinois, Toledo, Eastern Michigan, Ball State, and Western Michigan follow in the division. Ohio was tabbed to finish first in the East with 12 votes and were also predicted to capture the MAC Tournament title. Buffalo, Kent State, Miami, Akron, and Bowling Green round out the East Division standings.

Mobley was named to the Preseason All-MAC West Division Team for the second time in her career. Redshirted for the 2018-19 season, the forward's return is much anticipated after a strong showing in 2017-18. Mobley led the Broncos that season with averages of 16.3 ppg and 8.3 rpg all while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor. She joined the 1,000-point club in the game against Miami on Jan. 20, 2018, and finished the season ranked fourth in the MAC in field goal percentage (.556), eighth in blocked shots (0.8), and second in offensive rebounds (3.9). Her name can be found all over the Bronco record book, with the fifth most points (538) in a single season, tied for the fifth most rebounds (274), and owning the fifth most free throws made (135) in program history. She was named the Team MVP and to the MAC Honorable Mention Team at the conclusion of the season.

The Broncos averaged 61.8 points per game, 32.4 rebounds per game and 12.0 assists per game.
