KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan men's soccer team heads to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Wednesday, Sept. 19 in search of a fourth consecutive victory, taking on the Phoenix at 7 p.m. (ET) in Green Bay, Wis.

The Broncos won their third-straight game on Saturday, Sept. 15 versus the University of Maryland, Baltimore County at WMU Soccer Complex. WMU shut out the Retrievers 2-0, its second shutout victory of the season.

Series History
Wednesday's match marks the 26th all-time match between the Western Michigan and UW-Green Bay men's soccer programs, with the Phoenix owning a 21-4-2 advantage in the series. The Broncos have prevailed in the last two matchups, including a 3-0 victory last season at WMU Soccer Complex.Â
Scouting UW-Green Bay
The Phoenix are coming off a successful 2017 season in which they won their first Horizon League regular season championship in program history. UW-Green Bay went 9-5-3 overall last season and were selected to finish second in the 2018 Horizon League preseason poll. With a 4-1-1 overall record this season, the Phoenix dropped their first match of the year as their four-game win streak was snapped versus Northern Kentucky on Saturday, Sept. 15. UW-Green Bay began the win streak with a victory over Mid-American Conference member Northern Illinois. Junior forward Tomer Zloczower leads the Phoenix attack with three goals, while sophomore goalkeeper Jamison Yoder has started five of six games in goal, averaging one goal against per game.Â

- The Broncos are 3-1 when playing at their home field, WMU Soccer Complex. Conversely, Western Michigan is 1-3 on the road.Â
- Senior defender Ben Thornton earned a spot on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week (Sept. 17). Thornton scored the game-winning goal at Cincinnati (Sept. 12) and was a key piece to the Bronco defensive unit in the shutout over UMBC. The honor stands as his third career national team award.Â
- Making his fifth-straight start in net, freshman goalkeeper Lukas Von Lienen improved his record to 3-1 while earning his first collegiate shutout versus UMBC.
- Tommy Clark notched his first goal of the season versus UMBC, his second career tally.Â
- Zack Shane scored a goal (career first) and an assist versus UMBC for a season-high three-point game. In four games played, Shane leads the Broncos with three assists and is second on the team in scoring with five points (1g-3a).
- Kosti Moni leads WMU with four goals, good for eight points. He scored his team-leading third and fourth goals of the season at Cincinnati, a career-best two-goal game. The last time a Bronco had a two-goal game was Brandon Bye, twice in 2017.Â
