NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Western Michigan men's tennis team concluded play at the 2018 ITA Midwest Regional Championships at the University of Notre Dame on Sunday, Oct. 21 with
Peter Kuszynski and
Jack Randall falling short in the doubles semifinals.Â
The freshmen duo of Kuszynski and Randall had a strong showing at the tournament, finishing 4-1 while defeating pairs from Toledo, Illinois, Marquette, and Michigan before coming up one win short of the finals. The pair is now 7-3 overall this season.Â
No. 1 seeded Martin Joyce and Hunter Tubert from Ohio State defeated Kuszynski and Randall 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the doubles championship.Â
"We had a great showing in doubles on the first day going 7-3 as a team, and then having Peter and Jack reach the semifinals equaling our best showing ever in the ITA Regionals," said head coach
Dave Morin. "It's been a busy but very productive five weeks of tournaments for our team."
Western Michigan returns to action Nov. 9-11, hosting the Mid-American Conference Invite at Sorensen Courts and West Hills Athletic Club.Â
