Scouting the Broncos
With eight games remaining the Broncos have an overall record of 13-9 and are 3-5 in conference play. Against Ohio and Kent State, the Broncos have an all-time record of 59-45 and this season are 2-1 against MAC East opponents.
Nearing 1,000
The Western Michigan volleyball program is just seven wins away from earning 1,000 program victories. WMU would become the 23
rd program in NCAA history to do so.
Rachel Bontrager Named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week
On Monday, the MAC announced that sophomore outside hitter
Rachel Bontrager was named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week, averaging 5.43 kills per set last weekend. It's the second time this season Bontrager has earned the honor.
Bontrager Near the Top in the NCAA
The sophomore outside hitter has shown she is one of the top offensive players in the country, ranking 12
th in the NCAA in total kills, 13
th in total attacks, 10
th in total points and 29
th in attack per set.
NCAA Ranks
The Broncos rank in the top 30 nationally in two statistical categories. WMU ranks 27
th in total digs and 30
th in total kills.
Sweeping the Competition
So far this season the Broncos have recorded six 3-0 sweeps, the most since capturing eight back in 2015. Of the six sweeps, two have come during conference play.
Balanced in the MAC
The Broncos have been one of the more balanced teams both offensively and defensively this season. Heading into the weekend WMU ranks third in the MAC in attack percentage and fifth in opponent hitting percentage. The Brown & Gold also rank third in kills per set and sixth in blocks per set.
