KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team will start the journey to try and win its sixth Mid-American Conference (MAC) Tournament Championship in school history on Friday, April 29 with a match against Toledo at 2 p.m. in Oxford, Ohio.

The Broncos come into the match at 17-7 overall and finished 6-2 in the MAC, giving them the No. 3 seed in the tournament. The Rockets enter the match as the No. 6 seed after finishing 9-12 overall and 3-5 in the MAC. WMU won the only matchup this season 5-2 at Toledo and leads the all-time series 38-2 with the Rockets.

Junior Tracy Kuhle, who was just named Second Team All-MAC and the MAC Singles Player of the Week, is the teams leader in singles at 24-10 overall and 7-1 in the MAC. She has won 10 of her last 11 matches including five straight heading into this weekend. Junior Barbare Eristavi has been on fire as of late, coming in at 22-9 overall and has a winning streak of nine matches. Freshman Denise Azcui is 21-11 and 8-2 in her last 10 while freshman Katja Fevralev is 20-8.

In doubles, the duo of Kuhle/freshman Melina Lyubomirova lead the team at 19-8 overall and were named the MAC Doubles Team of the Week for four straight weeks earlier this season. The duo of junior Meika Ashby/Azcui have been huge as of late, winning five straight matches and going 11-4 this season. Eristavi/Fevralev are 12-5 overall and 7-3 in their last 10 matches.

WMU has won five MAC Tournaments in school history (1997, 1999, 2000, 2006, 2007), which is tied for the most in the MAC. The Broncos came in as the No. 2 seed last season and fell in the semifinals to No. 3 Ball State.
