CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Western Michigan Women's Tennis senior
Audrey Smitek has been voted Second Team All-Mid-American Conference and the MAC Leann Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship Award winner. as released by the MAC on Wednesday afternoon.
Smitek finished her career with the best season she's had in the Brown & Gold. In MAC play she went 7-1 in singles and totaled a career-high 22 singles wins between the Fall and Spring seasons. Her seven conference wins led the team and were also a career-high. In dual matches she was 4-1 at No. 2 and 11-4 at the No. 3 spot.
The Avon, Ohio, native wraps up her career with over 110 wins and sits just outside the Top 50 on WMU's all-time total wins list.
Smitek earns the Leane Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship Award for the first time in her career. The award is presented to the women's tennis player who has displayed outstanding sportsmanship in Mid-American Conference competition. The award is voted upon by the league's coaches after discussion with the student-athletes on the team. This is the second-straight season a Bronco has won the award, with graduate transfer
Lola Glantz earning the honors last season.
