Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan hockey team fell 4-1 to National Collegiate Hockey Conference rivals Miami at Lawson Ice Arena on Friday night.

Anthony Louis scored two goals for the RedHawks and MU netminder Jay Williams made 27 saves. Aaron Hadley scored the lone goal for the Broncos (7-19-3, 4-14-1-1 NCHC), who were held 0-for-4 on the penalty kill. Miami outshot WMU 34-28 on the night, including a 17-8 edge in the first period.

The RedHawks took an early 1-0 lead on Louis' first of the night at 4:26 in the first period. Josh Melnick passed it to Louis in the right circle and he beat Lukas Hafner between his legs for his eighth goal of the season.

Miami made it 2-0 with 2:42 left in the first on a power play goal by Kevin Morris. Scott Dornbrock fired a shot from the right point and Morris banged home the rebound for the eventual game-winner.

Kiefer Sherwood made it 3-0 MU just 3:01 into the second period. Louie BelPedio fanned on a shot attempt from the slot but maintained control of the puck and found Sherwood open in the right circle for his eighth goal of the season.

The Broncos were given a 5-on-3 power play or 1:29 midway through the second period but Williams made five saves during both power plays to keep them off the board.

Louis netted his second goal of the night just 1:06 into the third period to push the score to 4-0. Louis created a turnover in the WMU zone and went in on Hafner, putting it just under the bar for his ninth goal of the season.

With time winding down Hadley fired a shot from the left circle that trickled past Williams for his third goal of the season. Kyle Novak and Neal Goff both picked up the assists.

The two teams meet for the final time of the regular season on Saturday night at 7 p.m. WMU will be holding its annual Ice Duchenne benefit, for more information visit: http://www.wmubroncos.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=4600&ATCLID=210715704
