WMU held the Scots to five points in both the second and third quarters, as Alma shot 20-percent from the floor while the Broncos finished 45.5-percent. The Broncos won the rebounding battle 52-30 and finished with five blocks. Much like last season, shooting from beyond the arc was also key to the Broncos success, as WMU shot 7-for-19 and senior Meredith Shipman and junior Najee Smith each hit three 3-pointers.
Junior Marley Hill narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with 16 points and nine rebounds while sophomore Breanna Mobley picked up where she left off last season, scoring eight points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Freshman Emma VanZanten scored nine points, grabbed five rebounds and had a team-high four steals. Freshman Kamrin Reed scored seven points while sophomores Logan McCane and Meredith Miller each scored six.
WMU opens the season on Sunday, Nov. 13 as Davidson comes to town. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m. at University Arena.
