BUFFALO, N.Y. -- An explosive offense helped the Western Michigan women's basketball team to a 92-78 win over Mid-American Conference (MAC) East foe Buffalo Wednesday night. 92 points marked a season best and was the highest offensive output for the Broncos in 79 games since they beat Detroit 103-86 on Nov. 14, 2013. The win was the Broncos first on the road against a MAC opponent this season and improved the team to 12-6 overall and 4-2 in the MAC while the Bulls fell to 10-7 overall and 2-4 in the MAC.

WMU started cold from the floor in the first quarter, where the Bulls outscored them 21-17. The Broncos were held to 6-of-17 shooting while the Bulls went 9-for-15. In the second period the Broncos started to heat up, shooting 8-for-14 and 3-for-4 from beyond the arc to take a 40-34 lead into the half. WMU took its first lead of the game and never trailed again when Jessica Jessing connected on a corner 3-pointer with 7:29 to play in the second. Junior Meredith Shipman, who came into the game ranked No. 10 in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage, went 3-for-4 from beyond the arc in the first half.

In the second half, the Broncos stayed hot where they opened the second half on a 15-7 run just over 4:00 long. The team started the game 7-for-10 from beyond the arc and a perfect 15-for-15 from the free-throw line.

The Broncos finished the game shooting 56.9-percent and went 8-for-11 from beyond the arc, both season highs. The team also went 26-for-29 from the free-throw line.

Jessing had a huge day offensively setting a new career-high with 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting and 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. She also led the team with eight rebounds. Senior Miracle Woods added 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting while Shipman had 14 points and senior Alex Morton had 12. Shipman shot 3-for-5 from 3-point range and 5-for-6 from the charity stripe and led the team with six assists.

For the Bulls, Stephanie Reid and Joanna Smith combined to score 49 points on 18-of-33 shooting. As a team, they shot 47.5-percent (29-for-61) and 6-for-17 from 3-point range.
