Box Score

CLEVELAND, Ohio- The No. 5 seeded Western Michigan women's basketball team was bumped from the 2015 Mid-American Conference Tournament by No. 4 seed Buffalo in the quarterfinals, falling 63-60.

Freshman Stephanie Reid hit a big three-pointer for the Bulls with 2:34 remaining and senior forward Christine Baccas knocked down a critical jumper from the elbow with 50 seconds left.

Western Michigan had a chance to tie the game with a final shot but sophomore Meredith Shipman's three-point attempt from the left wing went just long.

Junior Miracle Woods led all scorers with 27 points and had a team-high nine rebounds. Jessica Jessing, Alex Morton and Teagan Reeves each had six points apiece. Woods scored 18 of the team's 33 points in the second half.

After falling behind by one in the first half, Western Michigan pulled to within one at the half, 28-27. The game went back and forth in the second half as each team answered the others call. The lead changed hands 16 times in the second half and the game was tied seven times.

Buffalo got a double-double from senior Kristen Sharkey, who totaled 19 points and 13 rebounds. Reid finished with 16 points and Mackenzie Loesing had 10.

The Bulls were able to out-rebounded Western Michigan 47-36 and were also able to run in the game, outscoring WMU 10-0 on the fast break. Buffalo advances to face No. 1 seed Ohio tomorrow at 1 p.m., with the winner going on to the championship game.

Western Michigan (20-12 record) will wait in hopes of getting an invitation to a postseason tournament. The WNIT is expected to announce their field on Monday. The Broncos have not participated in the WNIT since 2004.

Western Michigan's 20 wins this season are one shy of the school record of 21, set in 1978 under legendary Hall of Fame coach Fran Ebert.
