Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Steve Hawkins

“Just a heck of a ball game, both teams played well… I think you can see how good of a team Northeastern is, especially offensively… we played well offensively tonight and were able to match them, the past few games we have not been able to get that offensive spurt at the end and tonight we did, and just kept them at arm's length.

"We are all in the process of learning about this team, we are learning what works with this team, and sometimes what worked in one game doesn't work in another… one thing that I think has been missing in this team has been enthusiasm, and it starts with me and goes down to the last manager, we needed to play loose and last night we watched film of benches and starting lineups and seeing the fun we should be having and we got that back tonight.  Playing at home is a massive difference, it was great to be back in front of a home crowd…  you can see what we missed with Josh not out there the last four games, I love what he does for us and I thought Bryce ran the team efficiently, Kellen was solid for us defensively and knocked down that big three… we still made a lot of scouting report mistakes but the guys made some pretty good adjustments as well.

“I know coach Coen really well, he is a great coach those are great kids, class program… it's shame one of these teams had to loose but I'm glad it wasn't us.

"At the end we were drawing up a play for us because we didn't know who was going to get the ball, and Thomas said, “I want the ball,” and I was thrilled to hear that, this team needs that, that confidence and that has been what we are looking for out of him.”

Sophmore Point Guard Thomas Wilder

“I just want to give a lot of credit to Northeastern, they are a great team, you live to play in games like this… Coach Hawk always preaches next possession and that is what we did when they were able to score despite our effort on defense… I feel like we are going to go on a run now, everyone is clicking and we are having fun… Josh came to play today, he makes us deeper and gives us confidence on the court.”

Junior Guard Tucker Haymond

“Thomas played his role and got players involved and then stepped up when he needed to,  I think he is one of the best In the conference and the country…  there are things we can improve on, we are happy with the win but we have more games to play and have MAC play coming up and we need to improve.”
