Hockey Hosts Military Appreciation & Teddy Bear Toss Night on Saturday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan hockey team will hold its annual Military Appreciation Night and Teddy Bear Toss game on Saturday when the Broncos take on Colorado College at 7 p.m.

WMU will wear camouflage jerseys to honor those who have and are currently serving in the United States Military. The Broncos have teamed up with the Western Michigan Office of Veterans and Military Affairs to give away tickets as well. A special puck drop will also take place prior to the start. WMU hockey alum Tim Audette, who played for the club team during the 1972-73 season and then on the very first varsity team in 1973-74 will drop the puck with the team captains. Audette served in Vietnam in the United States Army from 1969-70.

Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears to Saturday's game as well for the annual teddy bear toss. At the end of the first period fans can toss their teddy bears on to the ice. All proceeds will benefit the Bronson Childrens Hospital and other local charitable organizations.

Tickets are available by calling 1-888-4-WMUTIX and visiting wmubroncos.com/tickets.
