TOLEDO, Ohio- Western Michigan and Toledo each posted a shutout victory as the two split a doubleheader Saturday. The Broncos and Rockets return to Scott Park for the final game of the Mid-American Conference series tomorrow at noon.
In game one, Toledo used a Bronco throwing error to score the games' only run in the bottom of the sixth, slipping by Western Michigan, 1-0. The Broncos rebounded with a 3-0 win in game two.

Chad Mayle had complete-game efforts. With Saturday's results, WMU's record stands at 20-27 overall and 9-14 n the MAC. Toledo's record moved to 20-29 overall, 10-13 in the league. With four games left in the regular-season, both squads are trying to clinch one of the final eight spots in the upcoming MAC Tournament, May 21-25.
GAME ONE RECAP:With one out in the sixth, UT's Tyler Grogg singled to left field and advanced to second base after a WMU throwing error in the next at bat. Ryan Callahan delivered an RBI single to left to score Grogg for the decisive run.
Laudicina threw a complete game for the fourth consecutive start, allowing five hits, striking out two and walking a pair. It was his fifth complete game of the year.
The run scored by UT in the sixth was unearned and Laudicina has now surrendered just two earned runs over the last 35 innings, for a remarkable 0.514 ERA in that span. His record stands at 5-5 on the season and his overall ERA dipped to 2.51.
Toledo LHP Ryan Wilkinson also tossed his fifth complete game and second shutout victory of 2014 to improve to 6-4 on the mound. Wilkinson held WMU to three singles, struck out eight and did not issue a walk.

GAME TWO RECAP:Mayle was nearly untouchable in the nightcap, hurling a two-hit shutout for this fifth win of the season (5-5). He fanned three batters and only allowed singles in the fourth and the sixth. It was the first shutout for the junior college transfer in a Bronco uniform and his second complete game of the year. With the outing, he lowered his season ERA to 2.87.

Grant Miller singled to lead off the fourth, was moved to second on
Hunter Prince's sac bunt and scored the Broncos' first run on a double to left center by sophomore
Brandon Cable.
Western Michigan tacked two more runs on the scoreboard in the fifth. Sophomore second baseman
Kurt Hoekstra led off with a single through the right side, Sohn drew a walk and both scored on sophomore catcher
Brett Sunde's two-run single to left, following a sac bunt by
Jared Kujawa.
UT's Sam Shutes (3-4) took the loss on the mound, yielding three runs on nine hits with two walks and one strikeout in 7.0 innings.
Western Michigan totaled nine hits in the game. Cable finished 3-for-4, while Miller and Hoekstra each had two hits apiece.
