GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-Region Teams were announced on Tuesday, with Western Michigan garnering three selections on the Midwest All-Region Teams. Reliever
Turner Doran was a First Team honoree, while
Tanner Mally and
Michael Maloney claimed spots on the Second Team. The All-Region Teams were selected by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Doran became the first Bronco to be named to the All-Region First Team since Tanner Allison in 2017. An All-MAC First Team selection, Doran posted a 3.06 ERA and struck out 34 across 32.1 innings in his 23 appearances this spring. The right-hander picked up a pair of wins and led the Mid-American Conference with 10 saves, tied for the second-most saves in a single season in WMU program history. He closed out his career with 14 saves, the fourth-most in Western Michigan history. As a First Team selection, Doran is eligible for ABCA/All-American honors, which are slated to be announced on Friday, prior to the start of the 2026 NCAA Division I College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
The nation's top hitter since early March, Mally adds All-Region accolades to All-MAC First Team and All-MAC Defensive Team honors. The junior batted .446, WMU's highest full-season batting average since 1965, and is on track to join Bill Guerrant (.467, 1965) as the second Bronco to win the national batting title. Mally also ranks second nationally in on-base percentage (.554) and hits per game (1.74), and is among the top-50 in the country in total hits (87) and runs per game (1.16). Defensively, he posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in center field.
Named the MAC co-Defensive Player of the Year and an All-MAC First Team honoree, Maloney combined with Mally to anchor a Western Michigan defense which ranked second in the conference and 33rd nationally with a .978 fielding percentage, just percent points behind the single-season school record. Maloney was a key part of WMU's lineup as well, ranking 10th in the MAC with a .354 batting average and tying for the team lead with six home runs. He also paced the Brown and Gold in RBIs with 55, tied for seventh-most in the league.
