Head Coach Shane Clipfell
On the game overall…
“I am ecstatic about the way we responded in overtime, and for that to end the way that it did. It was a little scary to come to the bench and look at the faces after she hit that three at the end of regulation. I wasn't sure how we would respond to that and it turns out we responded quite well. The bigger key in overtime would have been if we could have kept them off of the offensive glass. It's something our team recognizes and we know it and we have to solve it.”
On maintaining the lead…
“I thought we started showing complacency and selfishness. We got in to a mode where no passes was ok or only was pass was almost too many on our offense and that's not our game. That is not what got us the lead and that is not what made us successful. It's frustrating that we went to that point but we got it solved in time. It is something we can put in our book of learning and make sure it doesn't happen again.”
On Miracle Woods performance…
“Most importantly for her tonight she was 15-16 from the line. She was not a very good free throw shooter last year but she puts in the time. In practice when other players are going to take a water break she goes over to the foul line and shoots free throws and that's why her numbers are going up. She is putting in the time.”
On team free throws overall…
“32-39 is crazy good. We needed every one of them tonight, especially the one at the end that could have given us a four-point lead at the end but that's irrelevant now. For us to get to the line that many times tonight and come away the way we did is huge.”
Sophomore Forward Miracle Woods
On her free throw performance…
“I knew coming in to the season that I would get fouled a lot so I knew I needed to do something to improve my scoring game.”
On Miami's offensive performance…
“They were pretty tough, but in the end it is up to us to box out harder.”
On overtime performance overall…
“I felt like we really fed off of each other in overtime. We were just telling each other to keep fighting and keep going.”
On takeaway from tonight's game…
“Never be satisfied with where you are, and remember to keep fighting no matter what the score is.”
Junior Forward Marquisha Harris
On overtime overall…
“We knew we needed to finish it in those last five minutes and that it started from the tip off.”
On her overtime performance…
“I definitely felt that basket in the beginning of OT was a big confidence boost for the team because it put us up two points. Then we got a stop and scored again and from there we were able to make things happen.”
On defensive performance overall during overtime…
“We knew we had to crack down, especially because it was overtime. We have been to overtime and we know it's not fun. Everyone was communicating and letting each other know and that helps so much. It gives us trust in our other players that we can leave our person and help somebody else.”
On the season overall…
“It's definitely an accomplishment, but there is no reason why we can't fight for or expect more and I know everyone feels that way.”
