CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Western Michigan men's tennis team captured the doubles point and took an overall match lead, but was unable to overcome the #73 DePaul Blue Demons in falling 4-2 in the final match of the H.E.B. Invite hosted by Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. With the loss, the Broncos fall to 9-7 on the season.
The Broncos opened things up by winning the doubles point, needing all three matches to complete the trick. The No. 1 doubles pairing of Nadin Indre and Ross VanderPloeg downed George Chanturia and Filip Dzanko 8-2, and the No. 2 doubles pairing of Pablo Olivarez and Aaron Wong locked things up with an 8-6 win over Mathias Hambach and Sven Kasper.
VanderPloeg would add a singles win to his day's total, downing Hambach in the No. 4 match by a 6-3, 6-2 score. The Broncos would be unable to muster another win, although Wong came close; he was tied at one set apiece with Adam Reinhart in the No. 6 singles match, but was unable to complete the match before finishing his third set.
