WMU vs. Oakland Game-Notes

1st Half

  • WMU scored seven straight in the last two minutes of the game to establish a six point lead with 43 seconds to go in the first half.
  • Darius Paul finished the first half two points away from being the first freshman since David Kool to score double digit points in six straight games.
  • WMU ended the first half out shooting Oakland 50%-39%.
  • The largest lead thus far has been six by both teams with Oakland leading by six at 5:46 and WMU leading by six with 00:43 left in the game.

2nd Half

  • Darius Paul scored 12 points in today's game making him the first freshman to score double digit points in six straight games since Ben Reed in 2001-02
  • WMU scored nine of the last eleven points to break the tie and win their sixth straight for the first time since the 2004-2005 season.
  • With today's win Western Michigan improves their all-time record against Oakland to 6-2.
  • WMU is now 12-8 all-time against teams from the Summit League and 6-4 under Head Coach Steve Hawkins.
  • Today's win was Steve Hawkins' 100th win at University Arena
