DES MOINES, Iowa -- Western Michigan's Iris Campbell saw her tremendous season come to a close at the NCAA Championships as she missed out on qualifying for the finals in the 400m hurdles on Wednesday evening.
Campbell finished in eight place in the second heat with a time of 1:00.29. This was the first trip to the NCAA Championships for Campbell, a sophomore from Emmett, Mich.
"It is a tough way to finish things up," said head coach Kelly Lycan. "You try to figure out why it didnt go the way you hope it would. It is exciting because she has gotten this experience so early in her career. Even though she is disapointed today she can use this experience and come back with a vengence next year."
Campbell ended her season with MAC titles in the long jump and 200m dash, as well as being named MVP at the MAC Championships.
The collegiate season comes to an end for the Broncos but Andrea Hiler and Andrea Arnold will both compete at the USA Junior National Championships in Eugene, Ore., beginning June 21.
