RIO VERDE, Ariz. - The Broncos finish day two at the 2011 Rio Verde Invitational alone in 11th with Kaylee Imel carding the team's lowest round of the day, a 7-over par 79. Eastern Michigan increased its lead in the team standings from six to eight strokes and there is a new leader in the race for medalist.
Imel's 79 moved her into a tie for 39th with WMU's Britney Hamilton still atop the leaderboard for the Broncos in a tie for 19th in the field. Western Michigan has recorded 20 birdies through two rounds in this year's event.
Akron's Kristen Hill is the tournament's new leader with a two-round score of 145 after today's 1-over par 73. The junior birdied her final hole to secure the 36-hole lead. Eastern Michigan leads Michigan by eight strokes with Northern Arizona in third, Penn State in fourth and Toledo holding the fifth spot.
Sunday's final round will begin at 8 a.m. MT with a shotgun start as EMU looks to become the third team from the Mid-American Conference to claim a Rio Verde Invitational title (WMU-2003; Kent State-2004).
