WMU vs. Ball State Post-Game Notes

Pregame

WMU will honor senior Alex Wolf and Ed Thomas prior to the game as they suit up for their final regular season game at University Arena.

WMU and Ball State are tied at 56 wins apiece in the all-time series. WMU leads the series 35-18 in games at University Arena. 

A win over Ball State would give WMU at least a share of the MAC West Division title for the fifth time under head coach Steve Hawkins, and the sixth time in school history.

WMU is 10-5 against Ball State under Hawkins.

Demetrius Ward carries a 13-game double-figure scoring streak into tonight's action. 

Mike Douglas has recorded nine assists in back-to-back games.

Ball State F Jarrod Jones is the reigning MAC West Player of the Week. 

 

First Half

Starting five for WMU: PG Mike Douglas, SG Ward, SF Nate Hutcheson, PF Flenard Whitfield and C Matt Stainbrook.

Starting five for Ball State: G Randy Davis, G Juwan Scaife, F Malik Perry, F Chris Bond and F Jones.

Whitfield is first Bronco in double figures. This is the 19th time Whitfield has been in double figures this season, and the fourth game in a row.

WMU is 12-4 when leading at the half this season. 

 

Second Half

Douglas with a new career high in made three pointers. 

Juwan Howard Jr. becomes the second Bronco in double figures. It is the third straight game Howard has reached double figures and 14th time this season.

Douglas reaches double figures for the second straight game and 11th time this season. WMU has now had at least three score in double figures in 25 games this season. 

Douglas with a new career-high in scoring. 

Hutcheson becomes the fourth Bronco to reach double figures with his 12th double-figure scoring scoring effort of the season. WMU has had four or more score in double figures 11 times this season. 

First 20-point game of career for Douglas.

Post-Game

WMU clinches at least a share of the MAC West title for the fifth time under Hawkins and sixth time in school history. 

Douglas finishes a perfect 7-of-7 from the field, 3-of-3 from three and 7-of-7 from the line. The 24 points are a career-high for Douglas, who also reached 20 points for the first time in his career. 

WMU has had four or more reach double figures in 11 games this season. The Broncos are 10-1 in those contests.

Ward's double-figure scoring streak snapped at 13 games.
