TOLEDO, Ohio -- The Western Michigan women's soccer season came to an end as the Broncos fell to Toledo, 1-0, in the Mid-American Conference Championship on Sunday afternoon at Toledo's Scott Park. 

Toledo netted the game-winning goal with just under 22 minutes remaining in the second half on their seventh corner kick of the game. Danielle Case sent the ball in and Rio James flicked it back into the box where Rachel MacLeod flicked the ball over WMU goalkeeper Michelle Watson and into the net. The Rockets were able to hold the 1-0 lead, holding the Broncos to just one shot in the second half. 

WMU's Michelle Watson, Anina Cicerone and Caitlin Henderson were named to the MAC All-Tournament team. Watson made five saves in the loss and helped shutout Central Michigan in the semifinals. This is the second straight season Cicerone has been named to the MAc All-Tournament team,

Toledo controlled possession for the first portion of the first half, getting balls in behind the Bronco back line. The Bronco defense, led by Second Team All-MAC selection Kelsey Baskins, handled the offensive pressure, clearing out several balls.

WMU started to pick up possession in the final 15 minutes, creating a good chance around the 38th minute on a cross in from the right flank but Toledo goalkeeper Vicki Traven picked it out of the air before it could get to the head of Stephanie Skowneski. 

In the final minute of the first half Caitlin Henderson sent in a ball off a free kick that was bounced around before being sent on net by Diana Dedvukaj. Both teams were held to just one shot on goal in the first 45 minutes.

The Broncos ended the season with a record of 14-8-0, tying the program record for most wins in a season. The 2011 team also broke the school records for shutouts in a season with 12. Senior Stephanie Skowneski ends her career as the most prolific goal scorer in program history with 25 career goals.
