BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team fell in the final minutes of double-overtime to Indiana, 2-1, on Wednesday night at IU's Armstrong Stadium.

An Indiana corner kick with two minutes remaining was the downfall for the Broncos after a hard-fought 117 minutes of soccer. Orianica Velasquez sent the ball in from the corner and Lara Ross finished it at the back post for the game-winner.

“It is a heart breaker,” said head coach Suzie Grech. “It was a very well played game by both sides. Each team had momentum at times and we were right there. It is just a disappointing to lose so late.”

The Hoosiers struck first on a goal by Devon Beach in the 29th minute. Beach headed the ball in far-post off a cross by Becca Zambon for her third goal of the season, giving IU a 1-0 lead.

It did not take long for the Broncos to respond, as Stephanie Skowneski leveled the score in the 32nd minute on a shot from 10 yards out from the right side. Seniors Ali Bagley and Ali Jacobs each picked up assists on Skowneski's second tally of the year.

The Broncos continue their road trip and play at Cincinnati on Sunday at 1 p.m.
