KALAMAZOO -- Five student-athletes from the Western Michigan women's soccer team have been named to the roster of the United Soccer League W-League's Kalamazoo Outrage.
Senior defender
Ashley Caliendo, senior goalkeeper
Julia Francy, sophomore forward
Brittney Pavlica, junior forward
Stephanie Skowneski and junior midfielder
Alison Szczypka will join the Outrage for its 12 game schedule beginning on May 22 against the London Gryphons.
"I'm very excited for our girls," said head coach
Suzie Grech. "It is a great opportunity for them to continue their growth as players during the off-season and keep their skills sharp."
The W-League combines a mix of current and former collegiate student-athletes and gives them an opportunity to improve their game during their offseason. All of the Outrage's home games are played at Kalamazoo Loy Norrix High School.
"All five are solid additions to our 2010 roster and are great personalities," said Outrage head coach Todd Wells. "Each has a wealth of club soccer experience and they have all shown that they can contribute to a quality Division I soccer program. We are excited to see what they bring to our team his season."
All five will return to the Broncos in the fall as they begin the 2010 season with an exhibition match against Detroit Mercy on Aug. 13 at 4 p.m. at the WMU Soccer Complex.
