PRE-GAME

  • Western Michigan is facing Troy for the first time in program history to open the World Vision Invitational in Logan, Utah
  • The Broncos are riding a four-game win streak, their longest since a five-game streak from Dec. 23, 2009 through Jan. 9, 2010
  • WMU enters game having had at least three players score in double figures in every game this season
  • Mike Douglas, Demetrius Ward and Flenard Whitfield have each scored in double figures in each of the last three games
  • This is the second time WMU has played in a World Vision Invitational sponsored tournament (Nov. 10-12 in Eugene, Ore.)

FIRST HALF

  • WMU's bench outscoring Troy's 7-0 at the first media time out (14:03)
  • Troy was 11-for-14 from three-point range
  • Demetrius Ward scored a team high 10 points
  • Troy had three players in double figures (Huddleston - 15; Taylor - 10; Toombs - 10)
  • Ward led Broncos with five rebounds
  • WMU had lone lead at 14-13 on a Ward jumper at 14:43 mark
  • WMU shot 42.9 percent from three-point range, which 12.3 percent above season average

SECOND HALF

  • WMU with a 11-0 run from 14:41 to 11:27 to cut deficit to 14 points
  • WMU has at three scorers in double figures for the 10th straight game to start the season
  • The Broncos have four players in double figures for the fourth time this season
  • Whitfield scored eight-straight points from 8:31 to 5:57
  • Career high 22 points for Juwan Howard, scoring 10-straight on consecutive possessions
  • Howard is WMU's first player to score 20 or more points this season
  • WMU plays in first overtime game of the season and first since an 84-82 win over Ball State on March 4, 2009

OVERTIME

  • Demetrius Ward's three-point FG at 4:46 of OT gave WMU its first lead since 14:43 of first half (14-13)
  • First 100-point game against WMU since Oakland defeated the Broncos, 100-94, in overtime on Dec. 29, 2001
  • This is the sixth game decided by one possession this season (3-3)
  • Ward finished with a career high 21 points to give WMU to players with over 20 points in a game for the first time this season
